Bandmaster Park

Are you looking for a fun way to beat the heat with your kids in the city? Check out Bandmaster Park and their splash pad. The splash pad is called the Aqualien Rainforest, which is made up of six tall posts – three central flower shoots and three tall water-dumping flower posts. The combination of all six posts makes up the Aqualien water structure that delivers water to the surface of the whole Splash Pad. Aside from the Aqualien Rainforest, Bandmaster park offers plenty of room to run and keeps kids occupied on play structures. Don’t have kids? Enjoy a picnic on the large grassy area, throw around a frisbee, or organize an outdoor yoga session with friends. 

Stittsville Dog Park – off-leash

This one is for your four-legged family members! City dog parks are more often than not fenced in grassy areas that are typically overcrowded and have the dogs running circles on end. Compared to the usual city dog parks, the Stittsville dog park is a breath of fresh air. Located on 5.4 hectares of protected land called Shea Road Woods, the Stittsville off-leash dog bark boasts beautiful fields and trails, woods, streams and nature, all located next to the Trans Canada Trail route just south of Abbott St. and east of Shea Road in the Fernbank community. This park is otherwise often referred to as “Stittsville Woods,” “Shea Forest,” or “Stittsville Forest.” Bring your pup and go out and enjoy the outdoors with like-minded friends! Saunders Farm

Likely best known for its Halloween spookfest, Saunders Farms is a great way to spends some time outdoors during the Summer and Fall months. Valleyview Animal Farm Valleyview Animal Farm is a great outdoor activity for the whole family to enjoy. Both adults and kids alike can enjoy a variety of animals up-close, from alpacas and rebus to goats and geese. Just a stone throw away from Stittsville, Valleyview Animal Farm us a great way to get the family out of the house and enjoying the outdoors in no time! The kids can interact with the animals while learning about them in the little barn and during the country walk offered at the farm.
